#GoWalkies
Accompanied by one of her own dogs - labradoodle Berlino - Irish athlete and former Olympian Derval O’Rourke yesterday unveiled the Irish Guide Dogs #GoWalkies Christmas campaign.
#GoWalkies is about encouraging everyone to take their dogs for a walk during December and post a Christmas selfie with their dog, tagging the Irish Guide Dogs Facebook and Twitter pages and using the #GoWalkies hashtag.
Text WOOF TO 50300 to donate €4
This is also a fundraiser by Irish Guide Dogs so, in addition to posting the photo, the charity is asking people to support them by texting WOOF TO 50300 to donate €4 or by visiting www.guidedogs.ie/donate.
Irish Guide Dogs is Ireland's national charity dedicated to helping people who are vision impaired and families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence.
Speaking at the launch Derval O’Rourke said: “I’m delighted to be supporting the Irish Guide Dogs this Christmas and unveiling its campaign plans. The #GoWalkies is a great idea and as a dog lover and owner I’m looking forward to getting involved with my dogs Berlino and Chaz and posting our Christmas selfies all in aid of a great cause.
Today I’m calling on everyone to join the campaign, get out walking and post your Christmas selfie. While getting some exercise for you and your dog you also get to support a great Irish charity.”
