"I was delighted to read in a Sunday paper last year an article by a reporter and her mother who travelled from Dublin to Killarney by Train - with their little dog... they were then collected by the courtesy car from the Park Hotel and stayed in a beautiful room - the article was accompanied with Pictures of their Yorkie in the room with them.. It mentioned that they had a number of rooms which opened into a little garden that would be ideal for your stay with your dog.. The Park Hotel has always been on my Bucket List - so I thought it would be an ideal birthday treat for my husband - so passing by one Sunday we decided to go in and check availability for a weekend a few weeks later. However, we were told that dogs were not allowed in the hotel, they have kennels (which were closed at the time as they were getting a makeover) but the dogs had to stay there... I mentioned the article on the Sunday paper - to which I was told that my dog was welcome but could get a kennel - or possibly stay on the balcony of one of the apartments... but no dogs allowed in the room. Our dog is monitored 24 x 7 as he suffers from Epilepsy so has to be with us at all times - so my hopes were dashed at ticking another one of my "bucket list" items off of my to do listing... If you are travelling with Dogs and you are okay for them to go to kennels on the premises - then this is an option for you However, if you are travelling with a dog that requires to be with you in the room - this unfortunately is not an option but the review and pictures on the article indicated a very different approach.. The grounds and hotel are beautiful.. I'm sure the rooms and food match the ambience of the location - unfortunately for us we will never know.... Hence the low rating.."
