Wonderful destination to stay with your Pet
"We stayed here twice during 2016 - When travelling with you dog you can stay in the Garden Suite or the Courtyard.. Our Room was in the Courtyard - From the minute we arrived our Dog got more attention then us... which for a pet owner who travels with their dog that is the most important thing.. The room we stayed in was quite large on the ground floor - it's own door to the outside - had a tiled floor with under-floor heating, and a rug - a doggy bed was left out for Casey and in addition, a water bowl was full on our arrival and a feeding bowl was also left for him. A letter was left in our room addressed to Casey - and provided detailed information for him - he was allowed everywhere on the grounds - but not in the main castle - which was fine - As we stayed during Mid Sept for our first visit (3 nights) and October Bank holiday weekend on our second visit (5 nights) we choose room service for both Breakfast and evening dinner.. However, if the weather was good - you can also choose outdoor dining if you wish. The quality of the food was exceptional. The walks around the ground are absolutely perfect - depending on the activity level for you and your dogs you can choose from many beautiful walks from a short stroll to several miles - On the grounds there are lots of bins - so when you pick up after you dog you don't have far to go to dispose of your pooh Bags which is excellent.. No extra charge for your dog.. Dogs should be kept on a lead in the hotel grounds - which is really perfect for us as our dog is nervous of other dogs until he gets to know them.. so choosing a location where we know we can walk safely is one of our priority. There are wonderful beaches within a few miles - so if you have a dog that loves to run on the beach - this is a great location.. So many beautiful places to visit within a hour or so drive from the hotel - Slieve League, Letterkenny, Derry, Glenveigh national park.. "
Great location for exploring the North East of the country
"We've stayed here a few times over the past 3 years - Dogs are allowed in the Courtyard cottages - and these are superb Our cottage was on two floors - downstairs kitchenette and sitting room - bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The staff are really dog friendly - and the owners came over to us to say hello to their special visitor "our Dog Casey" during each of our visits - The resident dogs are friendly and wander around the grounds but they will not approach your dog unless you allow them.. The grounds are secure and have wonderful walks - we even saw some squirrels.... The food is exceptional with a lot of it grown on the grounds or sourced locally. We were allowed to bring our dog to the outside dining area of the restaurant - and on a cool night the staff would light the outdoor heaters... I would highly recommend staying here with your pet... only issue it is really hard to book as they do quite a lot of weddings - so if you are lucky to get a room here - you and your furry friend will have a great experience. Not as Pet friendly as other 5 * hotels
"I was delighted to read in a Sunday paper last year an article by a reporter and her mother who travelled from Dublin to Killarney by Train - with their little dog... they were then collected by the courtesy car from the Park Hotel and stayed in a beautiful room - the article was accompanied with Pictures of their Yorkie in the room with them.. It mentioned that they had a number of rooms which opened into a little garden that would be ideal for your stay with your dog.. The Park Hotel has always been on my Bucket List - so I thought it would be an ideal birthday treat for my husband - so passing by one Sunday we decided to go in and check availability for a weekend a few weeks later. However, we were told that dogs were not allowed in the hotel, they have kennels (which were closed at the time as they were getting a makeover) but the dogs had to stay there... I mentioned the article on the Sunday paper - to which I was told that my dog was welcome but could get a kennel - or possibly stay on the balcony of one of the apartments... but no dogs allowed in the room. Our dog is monitored 24 x 7 as he suffers from Epilepsy so has to be with us at all times - so my hopes were dashed at ticking another one of my "bucket list" items off of my to do listing... If you are travelling with Dogs and you are okay for them to go to kennels on the premises - then this is an option for you However, if you are travelling with a dog that requires to be with you in the room - this unfortunately is not an option but the review and pictures on the article indicated a very different approach.. The grounds and hotel are beautiful.. I'm sure the rooms and food match the ambience of the location - unfortunately for us we will never know.... Hence the low rating.."
Wonderful destination to stay with your Pet
"We stayed here in 2016 - and will be back again in 2017 Location :- The location of this hotel is wonderful for people travelling with their dogs.. the grounds have ample walks - but just a short drive away you've got lots of great places to walk / trek lots of mountains for hill walking, the Black valley and Killarney national park, Torc waterfall, for those who like a challenge Carrauntoohil is close by - the highest peak in Ireland - so if a wonderful day our if you are into Hill walking and exploring.. Please note the hills and mountains in Kerry have a lot of Sheep and wildlife i.e. deer - so please ensure your dogs are under control so as not to cause distress to the natives animals. Accommodation :- When making a reservation with your dog you will be offered a choice of a Dog friendly room or a kennel for your dog.. so the choice is yours.. Our choice was the Dog friendly room - which was beautiful decorated, spotlessly clean and a perfect location There is a €10 charge for a dog - but for that the dog gets a welcome pack - with pet treats, toy, pooh bags etc.. The room is setup for you and your dog - it has a pet bed, throw which can be put on the sofa if like ours he is a pampered pooch.. and they also provide dog bowls.. Food :- We choose room service which was prompt, a great selection, and met our dietary requirements (one Coelics catered for without any fuss) Cost :- Most hotels in Ireland which are dog friendly are either 4 or 5 star so expect to pay more then the average hotel price - but for that you get a wonderful experience and get to share with the entire family.
